Becoming: GRATEFUL

When I’m happy, I often forget to write. I forget to see that the beauty in my struggle has forged past all that holds me back; the injuries, the illness, the skeletons in the closet, the weather, the lag in motivation, the exhaustion and all of the road blocks and people who doubted my ability to keep pushing forward.

Today on July 19th 2016, I woke to my life and realised just how perfect it has become. How all of the struggles of my past are behind me, and from this point on, I choose success. I choose to be grateful, to be loved, to be cared for and looked up to. I choose to be admired, to be strong, to be independent of societies pressures and part of a meaningful, caring relationship that boosts me up and makes me stronger. I choose to walk tall with my shoulders back and my head held high.

I choose not to care what others think of me; and allow their perception to be their own business.

I choose to pursue the things that bring me great happiness and allow them to supersede the things that don’t.

I choose to let go of the past that hinders me, that has hurt me and appreciate it in all its greatness for how it has shaped me into who I am today.

I choose to forgive myself and others. For holding onto begrudgements only brings anger and hatred toward myself.

I choose to be love. Not just to feel it, or give it or receive it; but to BE it. To do everything with love. To talk to everyone with love. To give as much as I can and appreciate all that I receive in return.

I choose to be fit, to be healthy, to appreciate this great life and the body that helps my walk through it. I choose to strong.

I choose to be happy. To find beauty in the simple things, and share my energy and smiles with strangers to create warmth in their lives, and encourage them to take bigger strides in their own steps.

But most of all, I choose to be grateful. I choose to wake up every morning with gratitude in my heart for all that I have – my family, my friends, my clients, my limbs, my breath, my bed, my memories, my nourishment, my health – MY LIFE.

This entry is not just for me to express my gratitude; but for all those that have struggled to believe that life can change. It’s for those who think they are forgotten, or not good enough, or unloveable. The ones who think they aren’t appreciated, are feeling lost or simply letting life pass them by.

Every day is a choice, and you (and only you) are in charge of the decision on how it will flow. You have the power to change it, to mold it, to create it. You have the power to heal yourself, to love yourself and to become yourself. You have success in your reach; strength in your limbs and power in your heart. You (and only you), are worthy of making this life great; and you have the power to bring that dream to life.

It might not be today, it might not even be tomorrow, but one day soon, you too will wake up with a heart full of gratitude and thank the universe for the beauty in your day. The moment your eyes wake, and you count your blessings that surround you. One day, you will wake up and realise that you have Become exactly who you have always wanted to be.

Be happy, be grateful, be that rad as f$#@ person that you really were born to be.

Wishes in wellness,

Monique Elouise

Passionate about self growth, Im traveling the world to learn more about holistic fitness from varying cultural perspectives. While I stay put for a few months at a time, I like to 'live as a local' volunteering at health retreats, getting deep into workshops, training, cooking, meditating, dancing and anything that will keep me holistically fit while letting intuition guide me. My end goal is to help others how become deeply in tune with themselves, learning to listen to theit inner voice, conquer their demons and create a stronger version of themselves through health and fitness.
