Last week I interviewed International Wellness Coach, Morgan Sheets and found out about how she creates balance and prosperity in other people’s lives to create a better sense of being.

Fitness

M.S. “Reclaim your childlike attitude towards moving your body and do something that is fun and that you enjoy.  Moving your body is a gift and is something to be celebrated.

When you were a kid, you probably didn’t look at how many calories you were burning, or make yourself do activities you hated like running on a treadmill.  No, you were probably dancing because you loved it, couldn’t wait to get outside and play a game of football or softball with friends and ran around as fast as you could just for the sheer joy of it.

Fitness isn’t punishment. So, if you hate what you’re doing, then find something you love. Even if that means going for a 10 minute walk a day. Do that, then eventually, you’ll find something else that you desire to do. If you have to challenge yourself to get fit, then challenge yourself to see how much FUN you can have while moving your body.”

Yoga: Connecting mind, body and soul

Nutrition

“My number one tip would be to eat clean. Eliminate (at least 95% of the time) all foods that are GMO, have artificial chemicals, preservatives, hormones, food coloring, additives, etc.

If you have that down, then start discovering the unique needs of your body and lifestyle and eat in alignment with that.  A good start is to check out your blood type and Ayurvedic Dosha (take the quiz here) and then discover what foods are and aren’t beneficial for your type and begin experimenting with eating in alignment with that.”

Meditation

“I find that meditation is a heavy word for many people, and can often carry a lot of resistance. Having worked as a massage therapist for years, I find that I am much more easily attuned to a state of mindfulness, offering full attention to the process and/or activity at hand. It allows me to feel the power of being present, and aware. 

 Mindfulness and presence feel more natural to me and don’t come with any “rules” that often come with meditation.

If you’re new to “meditation” and want to give it a try, then start out small and practice simply being quiet, alone and aware for 5 minutes. Try focusing on your breath; inhaling and exhaling through the nose.  You can do this lying down, sitting, or even while walking to feel the fuller benefits of being surrounded by nature. 

Additionally, I’ve extended my offer for a FREE 20 minute meditation track, so if you have trouble sitting still and letting go of those monkey-minded thoughts, give it a try.”

Being Kind & Forgiving

“Make sure that your kindness, forgiveness and compassion extends not only to those around you, but yourself, too.  This is a hard one, and something that I work on almost every single day with one of my clients – myself included!

“Do you treat yourself with the same kindness, compassion and forgiveness that you are so willing to give out to others?  Or are you sacrificing yourself?” – Morgan Sheets

Kindness means that the act has to be good for ourselves and the other person involved.  It doesn’t always mean showing up, giving a person what they want or saying yes.  We have to factor in what we feel is in the highest good for all involved – ourselves included.”

Sleep & Rest

“When we are resting, our body is able to heal, repair and restore itself.  If you want to look and feel good, you ABSOLUTELY have to have good quality sleep.

Instead of being so exhausted that you fall asleep in front of the T.V. and leave it blaring overnight, find alternatives that make you feel rested enough to enjoy a better quality of rest in bed. If you need some kind of external stimulation to help you drift off, try playing relaxing spa or meditation music that will support your body to drop into a relaxed state of being. This will actually support your body to rest and drop into a deep sleep, taking away the stress and anxiety from your day.” – Morgan Sheets
